This policy explains when FortyBooks will review refund requests, how cancellations work and how app-store purchases are handled.
Last updated: 4 October 2026
This policy applies to FortyBooks, operated by FortyHives Innovations. Where local law gives you additional mandatory rights, those rights continue to apply.
This Refund Policy explains how FortyBooks handles cancellations, refund requests, duplicate charges, billing errors and purchases made through third-party app stores. It applies to subscriptions sold directly by FortyHives Innovations unless a different written offer or mandatory law applies.
Where a 14-day free trial is offered, we encourage you to use the trial to confirm that FortyBooks suits your needs before paying. No refund is needed for a free trial that has not generated a charge.
You may cancel or choose not to renew a subscription in accordance with the options available in your account or by contacting support. Unless otherwise stated at purchase, cancellation stops future renewal and does not automatically refund amounts already paid for a billing period that has begun.
You will normally retain access until the end of the paid period unless the account is terminated for breach, fraud, security reasons or another lawful basis.
We will review refund requests made in good faith, including cases involving duplicate charges, an incorrect amount, a charge made after a properly completed cancellation, a verified payment-processing error, or a material service failure that prevented reasonable use of the paid service and could not be resolved within a reasonable period.
For the fastest review, contact us within 14 days of the relevant charge and provide your account email, transaction reference, payment method, date, amount and a short explanation. This 14-day request window is an operational guideline and does not limit any longer mandatory refund or withdrawal right provided by applicable law.
Because FortyBooks is a digital subscription service that becomes available after activation, payments are generally non-refundable merely because you changed your mind, stopped using the service, forgot to cancel, or no longer need the subscription after the paid period began, except where applicable consumer law provides otherwise.
Where we approve an exceptional goodwill refund, that decision does not create an obligation to approve similar future requests.
Annual subscriptions are charged for the annual access period shown at purchase. If an annual subscription is cancelled, cancellation normally prevents the next renewal rather than prorating the current term. We may consider a refund where the criteria in section 4 are met or where law requires one.
Purchases made through Apple App Store or Google Play are subject to the billing and refund processes of the applicable store. Where the store is the merchant of record, refund requests must generally be submitted directly to Apple or Google. FortyBooks cannot guarantee or override a store’s refund decision.
If you contact us about an app-store purchase, we may help identify the relevant transaction or support route, but the store may still control the final refund process.
Where a refund is approved, refundable taxes will be handled as required by law. Bank charges, mobile-money charges, card-network fees, currency-conversion differences or other third-party fees may not be refundable by FortyBooks where they were charged independently by another provider.
If you believe a charge is unauthorized, contact us promptly and also secure your account credentials. Depending on the payment method, you may also need to contact your bank, card issuer, mobile-money provider or app store. We may suspend access temporarily while investigating suspected fraud or account compromise.
Approved refunds are normally returned to the original payment method where technically and legally possible. We may request additional information to verify ownership of the account or transaction. Processing time depends on the payment provider and financial institution and may take several business days after we issue the refund.
We may refuse a refund request where there is evidence of fraud, abuse, repeated refund manipulation, chargeback abuse, violation of these Terms, or a request relating to services that were substantially consumed, except where law requires a refund.
Nothing in this policy removes or restricts rights that cannot be waived under applicable consumer-protection law. If a law in your jurisdiction gives you a mandatory cooling-off, withdrawal, cancellation or refund right, that legal right prevails over any inconsistent part of this policy.
To request review of a FortyBooks charge, email support@fortybooks.co.ke with the subject “Refund Request” and include your account email, transaction reference, charge date, amount, payment method and reason for the request. Do not send full card numbers, PINs, passwords or one-time security codes.
We may update this Refund Policy when our payment methods, subscription structure or legal obligations change. The version in effect when a transaction occurred will be considered together with any mandatory legal rights that apply.
Questions or requests can be sent to support@fortybooks.co.ke.
